SPQR
From the Official Blog of Ali Wong, re Our Dinner Tuesday:

Yesterday was Chris Garcia’s birthday, so upon Lisa Wong Macabasco’s recommendation, I took him to SPQR. She instructed that I get only appetizers and not waste any time with entrees. The woman doesn’t lie. The appetizers were great. You can order any 5 for $32, and they’re fairly large portions. We loved the fried meyer lemon scallops, the fennel salad and the lobster brudo. The cellini beans were super light and the only thing we didn’t enjoy about the prochuttio were the accompanying olives.
The big mistake was the tripe-mint-tomato pasta. Tripe and mint belong in pho, not pasta. But we tried to take a walk on the wild side. Also, it was severly aldente, so we had to send it back.
But the service was great and according to Mr. Garcia, the wine pairing superb. SPQR and A16 share the same owners, so the emphasis on wine makes total sense.
The next time we go, and there will definitely be a next time, we plan on just ordering 10 appetizers.
- Wow, two years deep, and I’ve never sounded gayer. Taking notes, fellas? And by taking notes, I mean run for your lives.
