Chris Garcia
Chris Garcia performs as Mateo, the hipster magician’s assistant. I played a hipster magician named Hoody-ni. Anyway, show’s still going, I’m on in five, but during the sketch, I did promise I would put this photo on my Tumblr. Ta-Da.
Live comedy in the Mission District went down 47% when Sean “Memphis” Keane retired from the life. But that was before his no-good brother got tangled up with the Mob. Now Sean has to get his old crew of comics back together at the Dark Room for one night, March 20th, at 10 PM. With the cops and the mob on their tail, they’ve got to tell 50 jokes before midnight - or his brother dies…
Comedians include Kris Tinkle, Chris Garcia, Emily Heller, Solomon Georgio, Donny Divanian, and of course, Sean Keane. Get advance tickets here:
Chris Garcia: Best poster for one of Sean’s shows since Star Trek II: Wrath of Sean!
My first DVD review for SF Standup.
Laker bench warmer Sasha “Croatian Zoolander” Vujacic started a Twitter last week. According to his updates, his life consists of playing ten minutes a night, napping, and eating.
Sounds oddly familiar.
Monday, March 9th’s Rick Shapiro show at Club Deluxe is the SF Guardian’s pick of the day!
From the Guardian:
“A punishing brute of a man, Rick Shapiro makes even the most depraved aspects of our society (MySpace, philandering, Dick Cheney) into comedic bolts of lighting. He delivers them in a strung-out banter laced with malevolent sarcasm. He’s a dead ringer for Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmeister and an heir to George Carlin’s throne as the king of New York City’s comedy scene. His fits of satirical rage will grace the stage at Club Deluxe, where you’ll likely be able to grab a drink with this gutter poet of the obscene. With Chris Garcia, Chris Thayer, and Julian Vance. “ (Mason)
